I’m so happy you’re here

I’m in the middle of the story too;

in the middle of the messes & mothering, looking for & trying to create beauty.

Here I share my heart and inspiration for seeking beauty, creating memories, and cultivating a lovely & functional home, while navigating the joys and challenges of motherhood.

I am on the journey with you: learning, growing, and embracing the highs and lows, and this blog serves as a living public journal of my experiences.

I hope you feel welcome, encouraged, & leave inspired to make a life you love. 💛

How to Be a Poet

BY WENDELL BERRY

(to remind myself)

i

Make a place to sit down.

Sit down. Be quiet.

You must depend upon

affection, reading, knowledge,

skill—more of each

than you have—inspiration,

work, growing older, patience,

for patience joins time

to eternity. Any readers

who like your poems,

doubt their judgment.

ii

Breathe with unconditional breath

the unconditioned air.

Shun electric wire.

Communicate slowly. Live

a three-dimensioned life;

stay away from screens.

Stay away from anything

that obscures the place it is in.

There are no unsacred places;

there are only sacred places

and desecrated places.

iii

Accept what comes from silence.

Make the best you can of it.

Of the little words that come

out of the silence, like prayers

prayed back to the one who prays,

make a poem that does not disturb

the silence from which it came.

What I’m loving right now…

    2. Memory-Making Mom

    3. Theology of Home II: the spiritual art of homemaking

    4. The Enchanted Hour

    5. Habits of the Household

    6. The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry

Quick now, here, now, always—
A condition of complete simplicity
(Costing not less than everything)
And all shall be well and
All manner of thing shall be well
— excerpt: Little Gidding, TS Eliot

with deliberate choices, I’m finding joy in ordinary experiences.
